Cromwell Half Marathon, 10k & Teams Relay

The Cromwell Half Marathon, 10k & Teams Relay forms part of the action-packed Subway Cromwell Summer Series that comprises this event plus two MTB rides, a triathlon and a road cycle race.

 

The Cromwell Half-Marathon and 10k Run or Walk course takes you around the shores of beautiful Lake Dunstan, all the way to Pisa Moorings and back, with a backdrop of spectacular mountain views. This is a family-friendly, fun event that attracts runners of all levels.

SCHEDULE

Saturday, ​23 October

  • 12 pm – Online entries close

  • 3 till 6 pm – Pre-race registration at Alpha Street (map link)

  • 3 till 6 pm – Late entries at Alpha Street Park (late fees apply, EFTpos available)

Sunday, 24 October

  • 9:00 – Late registration for out-of-towners (late fees apply, EFTpos available)

  • 9:45 – Safety briefing – all events

  • 10:00 – Starting time – all races

RACES

  • Fun Run or Walk – 10 km

  • Half Marathon Solo – 21 km

  • Half Marathon Team – 21 km 

COURSE DETAILS

 

FUN RUN OR WALK

The 10k Fun Run or Walk starts at Alpha Street Park. Run north along the lake track (underneath the bridge) to the Lowburn Boat Ramp/inlet where your supporters can cheer you on. Then turn around and run back the same way, finishing at the Alpha Street grounds.

HALF MARATHON (SOLO)

The Half Marathon course starts at Alpha Street Park and heads out north along the lake (under the bridge) with the turnaround point in Pisa Moorings about 1.6km past the footbridge. Supporters will be able to drive to this point and watch their runners turn around. After the runners have turned around they run back the way they’ve come to the finish at Alpha Street Reserve.

HALF MARATHON (TEAM)

The Teams Half Marathon course follows the same route as the solo runners.

Teams will be able to change runners at these dedicated positions:

  • Start to Freeway (on lake) (1.2 km from start)

  • Freeway (on lake) to bay past Aurum (2.2 km from the last change point).  1 and 2 can be combined to make one 3.4 km run.

  • Bay past Aurum to 45th Parallel (3 km from last change point.)

  • 45th Parallel to Footbridge at Pisa Moorings  (2.4 km from the last change point)

  • Footbridge at Pisa Moorings to Turnaround and back (3.5 km from the last change point)

  • Footbridge at Pisa to 45th Parallel (2.4 km from the last change point)

  • 45th Parallel to Bay past Aurum (3 km from last change point)

  • Bay past Aurum to Freeway (on lake) (2.2 km from last change point) 8 and 9 can be combined to make one 3.4 km run

  • Freeway (on lake) to Finish (1.2 km from last change point)

ENTRY FEES

Early-bird

This includes food at the finish of your race, prizes for the lucky and trophies for the worthy.

  • Fun Run or Walk (10 km) – $50

  • Half Marathon Solo (21 km) – $70

  • Half Marathon Team (21 km) – $50 for schools and $150 for corporate teams

 

Entries after Wednesday, 20 October 

  • Fun Run or Walk (10 km) – $65 (adults only, no late fees for juniors or kids)

  • Half Marathon Solo (21 km) – $90 (adults only, no late fees for juniors or kids)

PLEASE NOTE

  • There is plenty of parking available at the start/finish area.

  • The briefing at 9:45 am is compulsory for all competitors. Competitors must listen carefully to instructions and note that an ‘Event Plan’ is available for inspection.

  • The course will be well-marked with bright blue arrows, with marshals on key corners.

  • Aid stations with water and electrolyte approximately every 5 km and at the start/finish.

  • Refreshments, playground, and facilities will be available.

  • Should this event be cancelled for any reason, you will have the choice of transferring your entry to next year or to receive 80% refund.

  • If we return to COVID-19 Alert Level 2, separate congregation areas and different start times for the categories will be implemented. These will be emailed out to those who registered online and signposted on the day.
