The Gate Lake Dunstan Triathlon & Duathlon

The Gate Lake Dunstan Triathlon & Duathlon forms part of the action-packed Subway Cromwell Summer Series that comprises this event plus two MTB rides, a road cycle race and a half marathon.
For this event to continue, we are following My Vaccine Pass requirements and will ask that all participants and spectators older than 12 years and 3 months present a valid My Vaccine Pass on entry.

New courses, new race, new distances, new location!
We have moved to Bannockburn Inlet away from the busy Shortcut Road boat ramp and the main highway. Read on and find your challenge!
7:00 – Registration opens at Bannockburn Inlet (map link)
7:45 – Safety briefing – all events
8:00 – Olympic Distance start
9:00 – Sprint Distance Triathlon and Multisport Kayak Race start
9:20 – Duathlon start
12:30 – Prize giving for all races at Forage Café - The Gate, Cromwell (map link)
Although entries will be accepted on the day, online entries are prefered.
Please try to complete your registration as early as possible.
You will receive a transponder and race number at registration.
All equipment shall be the competitor’s responsibility and shall conform in all ways to the ‘Race Rules’.
All competitors need to be at the safety briefing at 7:45. Competitors must listen carefully to instructions at the briefing, and note that an ‘Event Plan’ and ‘Race Rules’ will be available for inspection. Copies of the ‘Race Briefing’ will be available at the Registration Desk.
Note that persons who do not sign the ‘Entry Form’ nor attend the ‘Race Briefing’ will not be allowed to enter the race.
DUATHLON – Run 3 km / road cycle 20 km / run 3 km. Expected race time: 1 h 10 m.
FUN TRIATHLON – Swim 200 m / Bike 20 km / run 3 km. Expected race time: 1 h.
MULTISPORT KAYAK RACE – Kayak 6.6 km / bike 20 km / run 5 km. Expected race time: 1 h 30 m.
SPRINT DISTANCE TRIATHLON – Swim 750 m / bike 20 km / run 5 km. Expected race time: 1 h 30 m.
OLYMPIC DISTANCE TRIATHLON – Swim 1.5 km / bike 40 km / run 10 km. Expected race time: 2 h 45 m.
Start at the Bannockburn Inlet with a 3 km run to Mt Difficulty Winery returning via the new Lake Dunstan Trail. This is followed by a 20 km cycle out to the bottom of the Nevis Valley Road and then speed back on the descent to the Bannockburn Inlet where you then repeat the same 3 km run finishing at the inlet.
Starts at the Bannockburn Inlet with an out and back swim, bike out to the Nevis Valley Road return to the inlet, then run a 3 km loop to Mt Difficulty Winery returning via the new Lake Dunstan Trail.
MULTISPORT KAYAK RACE
Start with a 6.6 km kayak down the Kawarau Arm toward Cromwell turn around and paddle upstream to the start point in the Bannockburn Inlet, bike 20 km to the bottom of the Nevis Valley Road turn round and return to the Bannockburn Inlet, then run 5 km to Mt Difficulty Winery returning on the new Lake Dunstan Trail to finish at the Bannockburn Inlet.
SPRINT DISTANCE TRIATHLON
Swim 1 lap of the Bannockburn Inlet, then bike 20km out to Nevis Valley Road, return to Bannockburn Inlet then run 5 km loop to Mt Difficulty Winery returning on the new Lake Dunstan Trail to finish at the Bannockburn Inlet.
OLYMPIC DISTANCE TRIATHLON
Swim 2 laps of Bannockburn Inlet, then ride 2 laps out to Nevis Valley Road. Turn left onto Felton Road before returning for a second lap of the same course (you will love this awesome bike ride!). Return to Bannockburn Inlet, then set off running to Cornish Point returning to finish at the Bannockburn Inlet via the new Lake Dunstan Trail.
