Explore the history
One of the best ways to experience Cromwell is by taking a leisurely stroll through the Cromwell Heritage Precinct. This living museum harkens back to the days when Cromwell was a bustling gold-mining settlement. The lovingly restored historic buildings now host eateries, shops, and art galleries as well as museum exhibitions telling the story of the town and region.

Have a tipple
If you're a wine lover, you'll be in heaven in Cromwell. While the region is renowned for its delicious Pinot Noir, it also produces some of the world’s finest Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Riesling, and Sauvignon Blanc, Take a tour around the many wineries to sample the region’s offerings, or simply while the day away at one of the cellar doors with a glass of your favourite vintage.

Be adventurous!
If you're looking for a more active adventure, there are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy in Cromwell. The region is home to some of the most beautiful hiking trails in New Zealand, with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. A favourite with locals and visitors alike is the Bannockburn Sluicings walk just outside town. For the more adventurous, there is also rock climbing and mountain biking. Cromwell is home to a number of cycle trails that offer a variety of scenic routes for riders of all skill levels including The Lake Dunstan Cycle Trail which connects Cromwell to Clyde. You can cycle the entire trail or just take a leisurely ride on one of the sections. It's a great way to spend a day with the family, while getting some exercise and fresh air.
