We have the answers!
WHERE CAN I PARK?
Nearby parking will be available at The Gate for a gold coin donation. Please note that the large parking area at the Big Fruit Reserve will be closed for the event.
WHAT IF IT RAINS?
Light Up Winter will go ahead except in the case of extreme weather conditions. If it's too wet to release the lanterns, the release will shift to Sunday evening. Updates will be posted on Facebook and Instagram.
WHAT HAPPENS TO ALL THE LANTERNS ONCE THEY'VE BEEN RELEASED?
We have a dedicated team that follows the lanterns upon release to collect as many as possible on the night. They return in the morning to collect any that might have been missed. Although we aim to retrieve all lanterns, we know that a few might be missed. This is why our lanterns are 100% biodegradable and contain no wire.
NO SMOKING, PLEASE
For the benefit of our tamariki, we ask that you don't smoke within the event area.
HOW DO I GET INVOLVED?
As an individual, you can get involved by volunteering or chipping in through our Fill the Lantern initiative.
Businesses can support Light Up Winter by becoming a sponsor. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to find out more.
HOW MUCH ARE TICKETS?
Nothing. Niks. Nada. But our Gold Coin Collectors will greatly appreciate a koha!
CAN I BRING MY DOG?
We ask that you leave your furry friends at home as they may be distressing to some of our younger visitors.
WHERE CAN I GET A LANTERN?
Lantern tickets are available to buy online Our lanterns are flame resistant, environmentally friendly, and contain no wires that may be dangerous to wildlife. Please note that we will not allow any other lanterns to be released.
