Cromwell has a brand-new way to experience its wine country, and it’s officially launched with bookings now open. Already turning heads, Cromwell Winery Cruises is the newest addition to the local tourism scene, offering a relaxed and memorable journey that brings together water, wine and the stories of Central Otago.

Owned and operated by Sam Taylor, Cromwell Winery Cruises has grown from a lifelong love of being on the water and a deep connection to the region. From working as a surf lifeguard to navigating for Interislander, Sam’s career has always been tied to the water. Pair that with a long-held dream of returning to Cromwell, and the idea was simple but unique: create an experience that lets people enjoy Central Otago’s renowned wineries from a whole new perspective, via the lake.
The experience is fully guided and completely taken care of from start to finish. Guests are collected from across the Cromwell area, from Pisa Moorings to Bannockburn, and enjoy a carefully curated day that includes three scenic cruises and visits to three winery partners. Along the way, guests hear local stories, learn about the landscape, and take in the beauty of the lake, mountains and vineyards. Short, easy walks link the cruises and winery stops, keeping the day relaxed and unhurried.
While wine lovers will naturally be drawn to the experience, Cromwell Winery Cruises is just as much about connection — to the place and to the people you’re sharing the day with. It’s best enjoyed with a partner or a group of friends, and is designed for adults keen to savour great wine, stunning scenery and good company.
The full experience runs for approximately seven hours, from 9.30am to 4.30pm. Each cruise lasts no more than 35 minutes, striking the perfect balance between time on the water and time enjoying the wineries. Light snacks, water and essentials are provided on board, while the winery venues offer a fantastic range of food options for lunch.
Beyond the experience itself, Cromwell Winery Cruises is about showcasing what makes Cromwell special — its lake, mountain ranges, wineries and relaxed outdoor lifestyle. With strong partnerships and a focus on sharing local stories, the cruise positions itself as a proud ambassador for Cromwell and a fresh offering locals can truly celebrate.
Whether you’re visiting the region or looking for a new way to enjoy your own backyard, Cromwell Winery Cruises is officially launched and now welcoming bookings for its newest must-do experience. To find out more visit www.cromwellwinerycruises.co.nz.
