The recently held Quiz Night with Peter Williams, proudly hosted by the Cromwell & Districts Promotion Group (CDPG), brought the community together for a brilliant evening of entertainment, fundraising, and friendly rivalry.
Bringing in over $11,000 with all proceeds supporting the CDPG’s mission to keep much-loved events of Light Up Winter, Cromwell Street Party & Fireworks, and the NZ Cherry Pit-Spit Championship, free-to-attend.
With a packed venue and buzzing atmosphere, the night was made even better thanks to the smooth hosting by quizmaster Peter Williams. His humour and charm kept teams on their toes and the crowd thoroughly entertained.
A massive thank you goes to all participants, and to the many generous local businesses who donated raffle prizes and auction items — your support was key to the night’s success. Thanks also to the Cromwell Golf Club for once again providing the venue.
A special shout out to Tynielle Engelbrecht from Cromwell College for her charming vocals setting the tone perfectly as guests arrived in their glam, golf, or gumboot outfits — in some cases, all three!
The night ended in a thrilling 'sudden-death' tie break between the The Quizzly Bears and The Hopefuls, with the Bears clinching victory for the second year running. With sharp minds and solid teamwork, they defended their title in style!
This event was a shining example of community spirit. Thank you again to everyone who attended, donated, or volunteered — we couldn’t have done it without you!
