With only a few more tickets available, now is the time to book in your team and join us at the Cromwell Golf Club on 15th May for quiz night hosted by Peter Williams, former TV broadcaster and well-known for his sharp wit and engaging style. Peter once again brings a touch of professionalism and plenty of personality to what promises to be yet another fun and lively evening.
This event is proudly organised by the Cromwell & Districts Promotion Group as a fundraiser to support our mission of keeping our much-loved events of Light Up Winter, Cromwell Street Party & Fireworks, and the National Cherry Pit-Spit Championship, free to attend.
With the support and generosity of our amazing local business community, a fantastic array of auction items, raffles & prizes will be available on the night; you will not want to miss out.
And there’s more than just pride on the line – the winning team will take home a trophy, perfect for local bragging rights, but be warned, last year's winners a.k.a The Quizzly Bears - are back to defend their title!
Tickets are limited and priced at $210.00 for a team of 6 players, including a nibble platter per team.

Getting to know our quizmaster, we recently sat down with Peter for a Q&A session, read further to find out more!

Q: How is retirement treating you—busier than expected or blissfully relaxing?
A: I’m busier than I ever was. A combination of living on a country property, being President of the Cromwell Golf Club and still doing some podcasting and writing mean there’s not
much spare time.
Q: What’s your go-to karaoke song?
A: “Cherry Bomb” by John Cougar Mellencamp. But don’t get me to do it because I can’t sing as I’m tone deaf.
Q: Describe your perfect Central Otago day in three words.
A: Sunshine, golf, beer
Q: Pineapple on pizza: yes or no?
A: Yes!
Q: If you could play a round of golf with any three people (past or present), who would they be?
A: Lydia Ko, Arnold Palmer and Sean Connery
Q: What’s the most spectacular golf course you’ve ever played on?
A: Augusta National! I’m lucky to have been there a few times and played about half a dozen rounds there.
Q: Be honest—have you ever thrown a golf club in frustration?
A: Oh yes, I do it all the time much to my embarrassment afterwards. Once I had to climb a tree in Auckland to get my putter back.
Q: Do you miss the adrenaline of live TV, or were you happy to leave it behind?
A: Not a day goes by when I don’t miss it! It was another life which gave me some sort of profile I guess, but I find radio and writing far more fulfilling.
Q: What’s your secret to staying so sharp — crosswords, sudoku, or a daily glass of
Central Otago pinot?
A: I don’t drink red wine, but I do two Wordles a day and the WordBuilder in the ODT.
Q: Why quizmaster?
A: Because you asked me!
Thank you for your support and time, we cannot wait to see you on the 15th of May!
